Weekly Syllabus

Week of Monday, October 20 through Friday, October 24


This week we will finish up our look at the Washington and Adams Administrations and follow America in to the 19th century. If you keep up with the reading you will be at least one day ahead of class, so you should be fully prepared to discuss the material. Remember that we will have our next test at some point next week (probably closer to the end than the middle).  Conference if you have questions!


Monday, October 20, 2014 (45 minutes)

Topic: Washington's foreign policy; the Farewell Address and some key issues of the Adams Administration.

Homework: Make sure that you have caught up with all of the reading assignments from last week.

Tuesday, October 21, 2014 (50 minutes)

Topic: Finish up on the key issues of the Adams Administration, including the "Quasi-War".

: Read AP&AN pp. 219-222 (National Expansion Westward)

Wednesday, October 22, 2014 (45 minutes)

Topic: Discussion of the reading.

Homework: Read AP&AN pp. 222 -224 (Lewis and Clark Expedition)

Thursday, October 23, 2014 (50 minutes)

Topic: Discussion of the reading.

Homework
: Read AP&AN pp. 226 (The Nation in the Orbit of Europe)-230 (The War of 1812).

Friday, October 24, 2014 (40 minutes)

Topic: Discussion of reading.  Description of next week's project.

Homework: Read AP&AN pp. 230-234 (The Nationalist Program).
