Week of Monday, September 29 through Friday, October 3


This week we will have our first simulation project, and then we will jump right into our next set of classes, which will set up the next simulation project which will cover some First Amendment issues about religious freedom and the "establishment clause".


Monday, September 29, 2014  (45 min)

Topic:  Last chance to use class time to rehearse and prepare for the simulation project.

Homework: Prepare for the simulation.

 

Tuesday, September 30, 2014 (50 min)

Topic: Video about Supreme Court Justices.
Homework: Prepare for the simulation
 

Wednesday, October 1, 2014 (50 min)

Topic: We will meet in the Karambelas Room today. We will have our first simulation today.

JUDGES: remember that we will meet in my office in college guidance bell 9 to discuss the winner/loser of the case.

Homework: Lawyers: write a 2-3 paragraph reflection of the simulation exercise on the portal.  Justices: write a 3-5 paragraph opinion of the case on the portal. 

Thursday, October 2, 2014 (40 min)

Topic: Debriefing the first simulation.  Intro to the next case(s).
Homework:None. But bring a computer or internet capable device to class tomorrow--we will be playing a game.

Friday, October 3, 2014 (45 min)

Topic: Another computer game: Do I Have A Right?
Homework: Monday is the first day of the Supreme Court's new year.  Please do some reading on the weekend about the cases facing the Court this term. I would guess that on Sunday you can probably find some articles.  I would go to news.google.com and search for "Supreme Court". We will talk about this on Monday.
