Week of Monday, September 29 through Friday, October 3


This week we will continue our study of the early Republic, and begin to learn about reasons why the Constitution was created. At the end of this week we will reach the midterm. At this point, if you haven't been conferencing, you might want to start.  ALL STUDENTS WHO SCORED BELOW 70% ON LAST WEEK'S TEST MUST CONFERENCE THIS WEEK.

Tuesday, September 30, 2014 (50 minutes)

Wednesday, October 1, 2014 (50 minutes)

Quiz: on last night's reading.

Homework: Read AP&AN pp. 182-184 (Virginia and New Jersey Plans). Also, watch the "Creating a Constitution" video on YouTube (http://youtu.be/1FBmW0oni6M).  Start at the beginning and watch until 23:43 (twenty-three minutes and forty-three seconds).

Thursday, October 2, 2014 (40 minutes)


SPECIAL NOTE: Due to space limitations, there is no room for grandparents to visit class today. If your grandparents are visiting, they are more than welcome to spend the time relaxing in the library. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Homework
: I will give you a packet containing a copy of the Constitution to use for the next few classes. It is easier than the one in your textbook to take notes in. For homework, read from the packet pages 154-160 (up to the end of Article I). Also, read Hamilton on Democracy.

Friday, October 3, 2014 (45 minutes)

Topic: Discussion of reading.  We will begin to study the United States Constitution today. We will continue with this into next week that will culminate in your first paper of the year.

Homework: Read from the packet, pages 160-165.
